Distracting the Muse

Tapping. Tapping. Tapping pen.

Staring at screensaver.

Clean desk. Pass time. Barely noon.

Deep exhale and rolling eyes.

Pressing tongue against my crooked teeth.

Thinking I COULD work on that project but…

Out of water. Refill.

Pressure to do more. Be more. Act more.

Distractions distract me from finding a muse.

Can’t think in these first world conditions. Spoiled.

Escape. Retreat!
